Celebrating papal Mass in spirit

We were able to secure Ss. Therese and Joseph Parish Church for an English speaking Mass celebrated by our own Father Matt Coonan, concelebrated by Fathers Terry Coonan, Andrew Budzinski and Tony Steinacher, rather than attending the Spanish Mass at the cathedral. It was a beautiful celebration in which Father Terry, in his homily, reminded us that we are unitied with our Holy Father in heaven through the holy father, Pope Benedict XVI where ever we celebrate Mass. To conclude the Mass, Father Terry read a consecration prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus — the very same Sacred Heart to which the holy father consecrated the youth at WYD at the vigil on Saturday night.

We all walked back to the hotel together and some are enjoying the city one last time before the first of two flights takes us to Paris for the night. I hope that you are still praying that Paris has good internet! I hope to post more photos from there tonight.

You are always in our prayers and we look forward to returning to the states and our families tomorrow. Please lift us in prayer for safe travel as well.

  1. Kay-please keep us updated on the morale of our pilgrims. I feel so bad for them.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
